There are several types of transformers, such as transformers for isolation, control transformers, electrical transformers, audio transformers, transformers for current, transformers for high and low voltage, step-up and step-down transformers, etc. – of these types has its own characteristics and uses, depending on the appliance with which it is associated, in transmitting voltage.

The electrical transformer is a system used to raise or decrease the voltage of an alternating current or voltage. Electric transformers have two sets of coils connected around magnetic fields that act as conductors, called primary and secondary coils. This number of windings determines the transformer’s workability. There are different types of electrical transformers that can be used in power lines or household appliances to control current supply and decrease energy bill costs, such as step-up transformers to increase voltage or step-down transformers to lower voltage levels.

Current transformers are used to get secondary or supplementary current from the transformer to generate current and this allows customers to get enough current from high voltages for their different applications such as metering and protective relaying in the electrical power industry to obtain secure measurement of large currents. Audio transformers are constructed with epoxy resin, which by eliminating distracting audio signals from other devices, enables improvements in sound quality. The input voltage and current can be converted to the intended output voltage and current by Flyback transformers, and these transformers are available in a range of models and sizes.

The electrical components used to avoid the flow of electricity by interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another are electrical switches. For medium current low current, and high current appliances, these electrical switches are available. The circuit breaker is an electrical switch that automatically acts to cut off or break a circuit due to high voltage damage. This is critical in finding the fault in the circuit mechanism and cutting the electrical flow to prevent the appliance from being repaired. Such circuit breakers are of various kinds, such as vacuum circuit breakers, SF6 circuit breakers, fixed circuit breakers, etc.
